Nadia Padayachi, Founder: grounded leadership
Nadia is a yoga teacher with an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch Business School. Her interest in the food industry stems from her days in Communications in the food industry when she worked on brands such as Eat Out as well as with food entrepreneurs and restaurateurs. Her journey has lead her to create grounded leadership because there is a need to create safe spaces for women, particularly women of colour, in leadership to connect with themselves and each other.

Q & A with Nadia

1.What would you love people to know about you and your work?

My mindfulness practice has helped me  to exercise my bravery muscle. The more I practice, the braver I get. We all have to cultivate an individual practice of mindfulness and as this grows, so will your ability to stand in your power.

2.Share one of your highlights from working in your field and what it means to you

To reflect what I see in other women and to help them realise that they are not alone on their journey.

3.Fill in the following: Transformation in this industry will happen when…

When we have power.

4. What’s your goal/vision for our SA POC at the Table group (in other words: why is it important)

It is critical for POC to gather and connect. To know that we are not alone and support each other.

5.Name one person in this broader industry whom you look up to or a person who you really admire and why

Ishay – firstly, I think that she’s incredibly sexy! I also love how she unashamedly rejecting the notion that we need to tolerate and entertain the white voice.
